Established in 1999, HuskyTHON at the University of Connecticut has evolved into the largest student-run philanthropy in New England. Throughout the year, a series of fundraising events lead up to a notable 18-hour dance marathon. During this event, over 2,000 participants come together with 50 patient families from Connecticut Children's, all awaiting the final fundraising total announcement in the concluding hour.
In an impressive display of community support, HuskyTHON raised over $716,000 in 2016. This remarkable achievement was recognized by Connecticut Children's Hospital, which named its newest facility the HuskyTHON Center of Procedural Excellence in honor of the event's success; this center opened its doors in spring 2017.
HuskyTHON is affiliated with Miracle Network Dance Marathons, a nationwide initiative comprising over 350 dance marathons at universities that collectively benefit local Children's Miracle Network hospitals.
